Nick White Writing

There seem to be so many writing rules which limit what storytellers can write. Many people have attempted to write modern-day parables and I don’t think there is anything wrong in this. What people tend to do is to re-write the original Bible parables and give them a modern-day twist. I think this is good as the original parables contain such a great depth and are told with skill. There is nothing superficial about them.

Obviously it is impossible to compete with the Great Parable Teller himself, but I don’t think he would mind if we made an attempt to tell our own, even if they will not last. In a way I think that more new parables should be told and that Christians especially should experiment with this amazing genre. As a result, my few attempts at parables tend to be a mixture of the ridiculous and the profound (but probably more ridiculous than profound).
